No, I’m not referring to the 1965 Motown hit by the Four Tops. I am talking about the health benefits of local honey. For the last two days, I have been fighting this allergy/upper respiratory infection. I hate taking cold meds because all they do is make me drowsy. The non drowsy versions make me hyper.
A friend of mine and regular reader (waves) told me about this natural honey remedy. It is believed that honey acts as a vaccination by introducing the body to small amounts pollen. At the point of wanting to try anything natural to stay on point for MCM training, I went out my way to pick up a bottle to add in my daily green tea. Normally I just add lemon, lime or even an orange slice so two teaspoons of honey is a treat.
The sales clerk told me it takes about two weeks to notice an improvement. I will keep you honey bunches posted! ♥♡♥♡
Meanwhile, I kept calm and ran 8 miles after work. Hardest run of marathon training yet with the stuffy head, but relieved I can sleep in tomorrow.

Yikes!! I hope you feel better. When I had bronchitis during the Rodes 10K, I was making a mixture of 1 tbsp honey with 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. The mixture helped clear the sinuses and strengthen the immune system. Running when congested is NOT easy. I know…I’ve done it.
